Real estate company Balticgruppen is driving several major development projects in Umeå with a combined investment volume of over one billion kronor. At the same time, the company has undergone a management change during 2026.

Lars Carlstedt assumed the role of CEO and Group President of Balticgruppen earlier this year, while Susanne Waleij was appointed Deputy CEO. The leadership change occurs in the midst of an expansive phase for the company.

The largest project is the development of Östra Station, where Balticgruppen is investing approximately 700 million kronor. The goal is to create a mixed-use district and strengthen the area's role as a hub for sustainable travel. The plan includes offices, services, housing, meeting places, and solutions for sustainable transportation.

At the property Kuratorn 6 along Gösta Skoglunds väg, Balticgruppen is pursuing a detailed development plan for Universitetsstaden, with a focus on housing.

In December, Balticgruppen, together with the Scherdin family through the jointly owned company Scherdin & Olsson Fastighet AB, acquired the Höder block in central Umeå at Kungsgatan and Storgatan. The property value amounts to 300 million kronor.

The company is also involved in the development of Hamrinsberget, where the first phase includes, among other things, 157 rental apartments as well as modern office spaces and premises for operations in Kunskapens Hus.

Balticgruppen's extensive investments reflect both confidence in Umeå's continued growth and the ongoing urbanization of the city. The projects contribute to shaping Umeå's future cityscape with a focus on sustainability, mixed-use development, and proximity to transportation.

With several parallel construction projects, Balticgruppen is one of the most active players in Umeå's real estate market and an important player in the city's physical development.
