The Swedish Transport Administration is planning a public consultation this spring on the new intersection solution at E12 in Brännland. The project aims to improve traffic safety with an underpass beneath E12 and new bus stops.
The new intersection involves a reconstruction of the junction between E12, Sörforsvägen, and Kassjövägen just west of Umeå. The plan includes an underpass beneath E12 for both vehicles and pedestrians, new bus stops, and a new connection from E12 to Kassjövägen.
Currently, there are no safe crossings for those who need to access the bus stops at E12. Many residents and travelers are forced to move near the busy European route without safe passages.
Work on the road plan is ongoing and the consultation for the plan proposal is scheduled for spring. During the consultation, the public, authorities, and stakeholders can provide feedback on the Transport Administration's proposal.
The new intersection solution is part of the work to upgrade E12 for the future and improve traffic safety along the important connection between Umeå and Vännäs.
When the project is completed, travelers will be able to reach the bus stops more safely, and the intersection between the different roads is expected to be significantly safer than today's solution.
